Well, I don't know if anyone reads this (not much to read eh?) but I figured it was time to give an update.
Kerry and I enjoyed an interesting first Christmas since getting married, and had fun trying to split time with the families. We ended spending Christmas Eve at her parent's place which was lots of fun. We spent the day visiting, opening presents (with knives cuz that's how the Driscoll's roll) and then pigging out on Driscoll Christmas dinner...I love Hungarian potatoes! After dinner we all went to church at Maple Valley Presbyterian. Kerry and I then took off and went to another church service at Harbor Cov with my dad, and finally returned home to our igloo of an apt, and crashed...
We spent New Year's Eve with Greg and Sara Fleehart at Greg's parent's place in Burien. It was a blast. We are having fun spending lots of time with them, and getting to know some of their friends (now our friends!) even more.
Kerry was hired on full time on January 2nd after paying her dues as a temp. She is now an Accounts Payable Accountant working on the World Vision International side of the company. Her boss is relying heavily on her to oversee the transition of the WVI AP staff from Monrovia, CA. Kerry is quite excited about the added responsibility and is taking all of the pressure in stride.
Two weeks ago Greg, Blake, and myself went to a sweet place in Edmonds called Gallaghers -- Where U Brew. This place has a variety of different beer recipes available...you can taste the beer, choose the one you want to brew, and then you pay for the ingredients, use of the facility, and storage (they ferment it for you over 2 weeks). It was an amazing experience. We chose to brew the Nuthouse Brown Ale...sort of a mix of Moose Drool and Newcastle. Our brew turned out great. It is perfectly balanced with a combination of dark malts and softly bitter hops. It is quite smooth and each of us wound up with 48 or so bottles. Yep, 13 gallons in all. We have really found a new passion in brewing, and are hoping to start our own microbrewery someday. Hopefully soon....
Well, time to go enjoy one of those brews...
